On the 16th we began the Chinese New Year of the Yang Earth Dog. Whilst the Yang means Masculine energy, the element of Earth and the sign of the Dog are going to temper this and help to create a gentle, fun-loving vibration throughout the year.

2018 is a very Earth year, bringing into the physical what we desire. This energy may create the feeling we are not moving forward at all! In fact it is a pivotal year for laying the foundation and taking some of the biggest steps of our lives, particularly for entrepreneurs. It is the year to expect the unexpected as balance emerges in the mind, body, soul relationship.

Earth energy is slow to move, however the movements are always calculated and always help you to move further ahead. Under so much Earth energy, we may feel as though we are not moving forward at all!  In Chinese astrology, the year of the Dog is associated with finding balance and being organised. On one hand, we may feel called to act, to change, and to make headway, though on the other hand we may feel a need to rest, reflect and go within. Simply observe how a dog behaves. Full of energy and raring to go on a walk, then also needing to sleep!

The good thing about the Yang energy present this year is that most issues and conflicts will be resolved quickly. With Yang energy, usually things are quick to rise and quick to fall when it comes to conflicts.

All of the energy of the Earth Dog is going to make it the perfect time to take a “Down to Earth” approach to your life. Studying, strengthening relationships or your career, spending time with family and connecting to your inner self are all going to be important places to focus your attention.

My suspicion is that Mother Earth herself is going to create an impact during this year – perhaps as early as the powerful shift by Uranus in mid-May. This is going to bring about enormous change for purposepreneurs!

Earth Dogs are viewed as faithful, considerate and well-disciplined. The year of the Earth Dog is supposed to be auspicious in financial matters, though also exhausting on a physical level.

Overall, it is going to be a positive and harmonious year. One where we honour the cycles of action and rest, creating stability, and find a fun-loving approach to life no matter where it is leading us.

It is though a period to tread carefully in business and when dealing with sensitive situations. This is because there could be a tendency to lash out, become overly attached or stubborn.
